If you’re still saying, “I want more likes, I want more followers :((((,“ we are here to bring your understanding of social media insights into 2020!

Long gone are the days of trying to get the most likes. (In a lot of cases, other users can’t see the number of likes on your photos anyways!) While having a massive following is great, it doesn’t help you if your followers aren’t interacting with your content.

So how do you determine if your posts are doing well?

First, you need to change your personal profile into a business or creator account. This means your Instagram or Facebook is not private and you can explore data on your overall account, audience, and individual posts. Anyone can make their account a business or creator account. Just go to your settings!

Now, below each Instagram photo, you’ll now see the option to “View Insights.” When you tap and swipe up, you’re exposed to a ton of information. But what does it all mean and what’s important?

Impressions: Where are your viewers coming from?

The number of impressions equals the number of times your post was seen. The same users may see your post multiple times.

When it comes to impressions… hashtags, user @ tags, and location tags hold some serious power. If you’re not pulling in enough viewers from your list of followers, you can leverage these other resources to your advantage.

Profile Visits, Shares, Saves: What are your viewers doing with your content?

In 2020, we want our users to do more than just view and like our post content. We want them to visit our profiles and links to learn more, share our content with their friends or followers, save the post for later, and more.

You can use these insights to compare social analytics between posts. (Which locations perform better? Which collection of hashtags performs the best? What social posts are being saved? Etc.)

Let’s look at an example…

In this example from a @harvestindia Instagram post above, this post reached 524 people and was viewed 677 times; 588 times from someone’s Instagram feed, 65 times through searched hashtags, 12 times from the business’ profile page, and 12 times through “other” which includes tagging, etc.

On the left screen shot, you can also see this social post was saved twice and was sent through a direct message once.

Viewers are bookmarking it, sending it in the DMs, or tapping the Instagram profile handle to see more. Every bit of engagement boosts your place on someone else’s Instagram feed because it tells the algorithm that this is quality content and that people like it and probably want to see more of it.

And when they see more of it, they’re even more likely to become customers.
An increase in engagement leads to more business!
